Day One [Oct. 26th, 2009|09:46 pm]
gecko moonrocket

Food 2/1
Water 2/2
Exercise 1/2
Journal 2/2
Challenge 2/2

Good day so far. Had to run for train this morning, and did fair amount of running up and down the stairs (2 flights) delivering mail first thing this morning, so feeling v. energetic already.

Calories wise, I’m doing this to slim down before the Christmas Party on 11th December, so I have 7 weeks. I thought I’d start with the 28 day Challenge and go from there. So I’m going for 1500 cals for the first 2 weeks, then I’m going to gradually take it lower to 1300 cals, then 1100 cals.

Unfortunately, because I have to work late tonight, by the time I get home I won’t have time to go out to the park for a jog (plus it’ll be too dark) so I probably won’t do any official exercise, although I do get a lot of walking in today – it all counts!

Mmm red red wine [Oct. 21st, 2009|09:15 pm]
gecko moonrocket
[mood |blahblah]

So, I've decided that enough is enough. I need to lose weight. I can't fit into my brown trousers... the ones that Laurna once said made my arse look AMAZING. *sigh* I can't fit into my nice new warm grey trousers that I used to wear to work loads. If I can get into them, they are really flattering. I can't fit into my black pinstripes either... so tight they hurt... what's happening??

So, I'm sitting here drinking my second glass of red wine (I know, but alcohol really is my downfall) and I don't wanna go all ana or anything, but I really need to be cutting down on my food and exercising WAY more than I am currently.

This is what I ate today:

Breakfast: Fruit & Fibre cereal with soy milk, fruit smoothie
Snack: Banana and cup of tea
Lunch: Chicken and stuffing sandwich, soy yoghurt
Snack: Dark chocolate
Dinner: Fish in breadcrumbs, small amount of brown rice with stir fried vegies in chilli sauce
Dessert: 2 glasses of red wine

So... I dunno how many cals that all is. The problem is I got the sandwich from the canteen at lunch today, because I was on a training course and didn't have time to heat up my vege soup.

Exercise: 15 minutes walk back from the train station after work. I do have to walk up and down the stairs at work quite a bit usually, about 5-8 times a day, depending on how many errands I have to do.

If anyone has any exercising tips I'd be soooo grateful!

Thanks for the cool High School meme purplesparkler

1. Who was your best friend? Hayley

2. What sports did you play?
Ick – sport! I didn’t play sport. I gladly dropped PE in 6th form when it wasn’t compulsory anymore!

3. What kind of car did you drive?
I didn’t have a car. My parents drove me, or I caught a ride with Hayley’s parents.

4. It's Friday night, where were you at?
Usually home. Some Friday night (like, once every couple of months) we’d go see our mates playing in bands. In senior year I was trying to get into the pubs though, LOL!

5. Were you a party animal?
Not really, more of a rock chick, I liked going out to gigs to see bands with my mates.

6. Were you in the "In Crowd"?
*pfft* No way! I would have to have been straight to get into the In Crowd at an All Girls school!

7. Ever skip school?
Yup, usually to smoke at the park next to our school, a couple of times to go shopping, and once to have a beer at the pub – this was a novelty once most of our friends turned 18 near the end of our senior year!

8. Ever smoke?
Yup, I tried it when I was 14. I keep getting caught. Hayley’s parents smoked, so it was easy to nick smokes and then go down to the park and hide in the bushes.

9. Were you a nerd?
Not really, but I was a Muso, there were only six of us in 6th and 7th form Music, and we were a little geeky about our music, to the point where we’d spend lunch times playing instruments and working on our compositions.

11. Who was your favorite teacher?
My music teacher, Judith Donaldson.

12. Favorite class?
Music and English.

13. School mascot?
We didn't have one.

14. Did you go to Prom?
Yup. In 6th form I took a male friend of mine, and in 7th form I took a female friend of mine, and wore a wig so I looked like Cleopatra. Yeah, I was a little quirky….

15. If you could go back and do it over, would you?
Yeah maybe, I wouldn’t worry so much about not being cool or not being in a clique. Maybe I wouldn’t have abandoned those geeks I started being friends with in 3rd Form, oops….

16. What do you remember most about graduation?
They call it Prize Giving in New Zealand. They have Prize Giving at the end of every year, but at the end of my senior year, the one hilarious thing I remember was dyeing my short pixie-cut hair a bright orange-red and then having to stand at the back of the orchestra (up on a stage in the main theatre in Palmy-town) for the whole ceremony, and everyone could see my hair from the audience, this little bright orange blob bobbing up and down every time we had to stand up to play.

17. Favourite memory of your Senior Year?
My 18th Birthday party, the entire world came it was fantastic!

18. Did you have a job your senior year?
Sort of, just baby sitting on and off for various people on our street.

19. Who did you date?
Er, too many guys! I started dating when I was 14, but most of them were rather immature relationships. The most significant was this really hot guy called Nathaniel who lived about an hour away from Palmerston, he was a year older and we lasted for 5 months.

20. Where did you go most often for lunch?
My mum or dad made me a packed lunch. I was never allowed to buy lunch, way too expensive!

21. Have you gained weight since then?
Gained. I haven’t grown much taller though, I haven’t grown much since I was 15.

22. Did you get suspended/expelled?
No, but I did get one detention in 4th form.

23. Can you sing the Alma Mater?
Can’t remember anymore!

24. What did you do after graduation?
Mucked around for the summer, then headed off to university in Wellington and left small-town Palmerston to be narrow-minded and boring without me.

Your Five Variable Love Profile

Propensity for Monogamy:

Your propensity for monogamy is medium.
In general, you prefer to have only one love interest.
But it's hard for you to stay devoted for too long!
There's too much eye candy to keep you from wandering.

Experience Level:

Your experience level is medium.
You probably have had a couple significant loves.
And you may have even had your heart broken.
But you haven't really dated a wide variety of people.

Your dominance is low.
This doesn't mean you're a doormat, just balanced.
You know a relationship is not about getting your way.
And you love to give your sweetie a lot of freedom.

Your cynicism is medium.
You'd like to believe in true and everlasting love...
But you've definitely been burned enough to know better.
You're still an optimist, but you also are a realist.

Your independence is high.
You don't need to be in love, and sometimes you don't even want love.
Having your own life is very important for you...
Even more important than having a relationship.

Quote of the Day [Feb. 13th, 2006|10:53 am]

"It is wonderful how much time good people spend fighting the devil. If they would only expend the same amount of energy loving their fellow men, the devil would die in his own tracks of ennui."

43 days to go, 43 days until I leave New Zealand for sunny Australia!

And 57 days until I land in London, to see my friends, Rochelle, Sion, Sam, Ellen, Helen, etc. And then maybe I'll take a tiki tour to Ireland to visit Lisa, and the other Lisa, and in Scotland I'll see Elaine and - OOoh I'm so excited!

I have 28 days of work left. No more ERMA - hurrah!

The year of 2005 for me.... [Jan. 2nd, 2006|03:35 pm]
gecko moonrocket

What happened in 2005:

I worked full time for the entire year for the first time ever.

I finally told my friend Daniel, that I'd had a crush on for a year, that I liked him. He didn't like me like that, but we stayed friends anyway.

I met a truly lovely guy, Sam, who I waited far too long to actually get together with.

I started dancing Ceroc.

I performed my first Ceroc routine, with my lovely boyfriend, Sam.

My fantastic friend, Daniel, comforted me as I cried in the lunchroom at work over dilemmas with Sam.

I invited my lovely boyfriend, Sam, my best friend, Rochelle, and Daniel to my birthday dinner. Only Daniel showed up. It was still fun though.

A few days later I organised a kick-arse 21st birthday party for my boyfriend, Sam.

I went on a holiday to Rotorua with Sam and 2 of our friends, and I rode the Sky Swing - never done anything like that before! Total adrenaline rush!

My Grandma Marie died.

My Great Uncle Russell died.

My lovely boyfriend, Sam, moved back to the UK.

A week later my best friend, Rochelle, got married and moved to the UK.

I spent my first New Years Eve in Wellington.

And I'm still with Sam.

King Kong madness [Dec. 20th, 2005|09:56 am]
gecko moonrocket
I still haven't seen King Kong, but I feel rather proud of my country, and of my city. I was able to see one of the major King Kong sets from my window at work, because they had a huge set on the other side of the harbour. It was hard not to miss the huge walls and flood lights perched on the side of the hill!

I have quite a few friends who were extras in it, and they all say that Naomi Watts is sooo beautiful in real life.

Peter Jackson just keeps making better films!
